Calling all Supernatural Family! We are hitching a ride in the Impala and headed to Minneapolis for the Official Supernatural Convention. On November 2-4, you can find our Regional Representatives Holli and April keeping warm in the Minneapolis Convention Center. We will be there to spread some #getkind cheer – and we want to hear your stories! Come grab some Random Acts swag and donate a few items to our local partner organization, The Bridge for Youth.
About The Bridge for Youth
Serving the community of Minneapolis since 1970, The Bridge For Youth is a non-profit organization dedicated to assisting homeless youth. Conservative estimates conclude on any given night as many as 6,000 youths (children and young adults aged 18-24) in Minneapolis do not have a bed of their own. Bridge For Youth’s aim is to “bridge the gap” between homelessness and a brighter future. They provide many services at no charge for over a thousand youths and their families, including crisis support, free and transition housing, and counseling. Their mission is to “Provide runaway and homeless youth safe shelter, assist in the prevention and resolution of family conflicts and reunify families whenever possible.”
How can I help in Minneapolis?
Bridge for Youth has given us a wish list of items that the young people who come through their program often need. You can bring any items from the list below to the Random Acts table at the convention all weekend long.
Brand new items (still in the package, please):
- Small hygiene items (hotel/travel size)
New or gently used items:
- Sweat pants
- Basketball Shorts
**For sizing, all clothing is for youths aged 10-21, and most commonly aged 15
What if I won’t be at #SPNMinn?
If you won’t be joining us in the Twin Cities, don’t worry! Follow @RARepUSCentral and @RARepUSSouthEast for the latest updates from the convention, or Random Acts Twitter to see what else we have been up to! If you would like to help out homeless youth, you can make a donation directly to The Bridge for Youth, or volunteer your time at a shelter in your area.
