Changing the world one random act of kindness at a time.

Hurricane Florence continues to wreak havoc across the eastern coast of the United States. We first reported that the Category 1 storm hit North Carolina the hardest last week. Since then, the storm has traveled south and most recently is set to hit Georgetown County, South Carolina, with major flooding and evacuations expected. Both of the Carolinas, along with Virginia, Maryland, the District of Columbia and Georgia have all declared states of emergency.

This storm is hitting close to home…

One of the places that has been hit the hardest is Wilmington, North Carolina. You may recognize this city as the backdrop of which where many of our favorite movies and television shows were filmed. Amongst those filmed there was the show One Tree Hill, which starred Random Acts Board Member Danneel Ackles. Because of their love of their fictional home town, Danneel, along with the women of One Tree Hill (Hilarie Burton, Sophia Bush, Bethany Joy Lenz, Allison Munn, Rachel Spector, Audrey Wauchope, Lassiter Stone, India de Beaufort, Shantel VanSanten, Michaela McManus, Kate Vogel, Jana Kramer, Ashley Rickards, Bevin Prince, Lis Harnois, and Daphne Zuniga), have started the #CapeFearlessChallenge fundraiser to help victims of the storm.

What’s the plan?

Random Acts will give to organizations with boots on the ground, so that funds are distributed directly to the victims. 100% of the funds raised will go to the relief efforts from this natural disaster. Because of the extent of the damage, the devastation by hurricanes is often far reaching and long felt. We’re hoping to help as many people as possible as they begin the process of rebuilding the affected areas.

How can you help?

If you can, donate directly to their crowdfund page. Additionally, Stands has released a limited edition To Carolina with Love shirt, with 100% of the profits to go to Random Acts towards the Hurricane Florence relief efforts. Most importantly, spreading the word far and wide will also help raise funds. You can go to our Twitter page, and retweet our posts about the fundraiser. Make sure to use the hashtag #CapeFearlessChallenge.

Together, we can help each other rebuild this beloved community and the surrounding areas.
