Changing the world one random act of kindness at a time.

The COVID-19 outbreak is more likely to affect at risk communities experiencing poverty, food insecurity, isolation or some combination than the general population. Stacie Baldwin, Regional Representative with Random Acts, knew some families in her area fit this description and were affected by the COVID-19 outbreak.

It all started with researching the food deficit and donating to a local organization fighting child hunger.

Soon after, Stacie learned of a nearby family tackling the difficulties of the COVID-19 outbreak. In the midst of fighting cancer, the mother’s situation required special consideration. She is likely at higher risk of catching the virus.

SHOPPING FOR A CAUSE

Without delay, Stacie grabbed a friend and headed to the store to purchase food and hygiene products. Bulk items like soap, shampoo, detergent, bread, canned meats, and pasta can last a family for weeks.

In light of this family’s situation, Stacie delivered the supplies right to their doorstep. With an immunocompromised mother, this kept her and her family much safer.

“When you hear that someone is sick or that they are poor or that they are isolated, you don’t necessarily have a good picture in your mind of what that looks like,” said Stacie.

Afterwards, the family was extremely grateful for the care package and Stacie is already preparing to make a few more trips on behalf of this family. Big or small, a random act of kindness leaves a lasting impact on those you have helped.

INSPIRED TO ACT

Subsequently, Stacie’s random act of kindness inspired others to follow in her footsteps. Community members have reached out asking how they, too, can help families in need survive the COVID-19 outbreak.

Feeling inspired? Please consider nominating your local COVID-19 relief organizations. As part of the Random Acts Support Program, selected groups will receive support, funding and resources.
