Changing the world one random act of kindness at a time.

FR  DE

The COVID-19 pandemic has impacted the world in a way that we never could have imagined, but this crisis has been especially taxing for essential healthcare workers, who are on the front lines each and every day, caring for sick patients. Random Acts Regional Representative Stacie Baldwin decided to use her gift of sewing to create much-needed masks for these essential workers!

Committing to the Cause

When the COVID-19 outbreak began, Stacie knew that she wanted to do her part to help individuals who were impacted by the virus, but she was not sure how. When she discovered that masks were in high demand, she realized that she could use her sewing skills to do her part in preventing the spread of the virus. As a result, Stacie decided to dedicate the months of April, May, and June to creating masks. She sat for many hours, busily sewing masks, and her hard work definitely paid off:

  • 100 disposable masks using medical-grade fabric through the Facebook group Ozark Face Masks for Cox and Mercy Hospitals Sewing.
  • 30 OLY-Fun fabric masks for childcare workers taking care of hospital employees’ children and 63 OLY-Fun fabric masks for a disabled home care worker’s center through a group of friends called the Pink Masketeers.
  • 90+ cotton fabric masks for workers at a local hospital who are being issued one mask for every three shifts.
  • Almost 700 cotton fabric masks for friends and family, most of whom are essential workers.

By the end of those three months, Stacie wound up creating more than 800 masks!

Just Getting Started

Stacie’s work making masks for the public is not done yet! The Random Acts Regional Representative plans to continue doing her part to help keep people safe and protect essential workers for as long as she can! She plans to continue using her skills to sew and donate masks, this time through two more groups on Facebook: Relief Crafters of America and Plains – Relief Crafters of America.
