Now that the madness of Black Friday has subsided and all the best Cyber Monday shopping deals have been snatched up, it’s time to turn our attention to what the holidays are really about. With so much going on, it might be easy to miss opportunities to give back to others. That’s why this #GivingTuesday, we’re encouraging you to celebrate kindness by donating to Random Acts and changing the world one small step at a time.
How does #GivingTuesday work, exactly? It’s pretty simple: By “harnessing the potential of social media and the generosity of people around the world”, the founders of the official #GivingTuesday campaign are hoping to make our corner of the universe a more beautiful place. Social media users (and anyone who wants to get involved for that matter) are urged to seek out a movement or charitable organization in their neighborhood—whether physical or virtual—and donate time, resources, and talents to the cause.
This #GivingTuesday, help Random Acts become a more powerful movement across the globe by finding fun ways to give, whether it’s through our stores, Amazon Smile, or by donating directly on the website. You can also help us build our Crowdrise Giving Tower, the proceeds from which will be divided between Random Acts and the Jacmel Children’s Center in Haiti. (As a note: If Random Acts raises the most funds of all the competing charities between 12 a.m. ET and 11:59:59 p.m. ET on Giving Tuesday, we’ll receive a $25,000 bonus donation to our cause, courtesy of a handful of amazing organizations, which you can read about here.)
Remember: 100 percent of the donations that come our way are distributed to various campaigns, kindness programs, and more importantly, back to you, so that we’re able to financially support your own kindness projects again somewhere down the road. So the next time you read an update on the new campus Random Acts is building for the Free High School of San Juan del Sur, Nicaragua, or sneak a peak at the latest Kindness Files sponsored act, you’ll know that you too had an official hand in making that happen — and really, what better gift can you give yourself than the knowledge that you’ve made a difference?
It’s easy to become lost in all the hustle and bustle of the holiday season — but we’re confident that with your help, we can channel some of that energy into something bigger and better than ourselves.
Let’s #GetKind and get ready to give!
