Changing the world one random act of kindness at a time.

Random Acts is partnering with the Born this Way Foundation for their 21 Days to be Kind Campaign, #BeKind21. The campaign aims to make kindness a habit; it asks participants to perform an act of kindness each day from September 1 to September 21, 2020. Random Acts Regional Representatives have done some great acts through September to take part in this campaign.

Straws are a great tool full of function and convenience, but single-use plastics are having a detrimental impact on our environment. Random Acts Regional Representative Misty Cash saw an opportunity to help restaurant-goers make a positive change. She bought reusable straws and handed them out at a local food spot, encouraging patrons to upgrade their straw experience. The people Misty met were grateful for her efforts and one made a donation to Random Acts on the spot! “Completing acts is always fun for me,” Misty said. “It makes my heart smile. Plus, my son was with me…He gets to see that people are kind and appreciative of the nice things Random Acts does in the community.”

Eco-Friendly Care Packages

Care packages laid out and ready to go!

Random Acts Regional Lead Jade Wardle completed an act to honor both the spirit of this month’s #GetKind theme, Environment, and participate in #BeKind21. She donated eco-friendly care packages for women and transgender men experiencing homelessness to Hope For Food in Bournemouth, United Kingdom. Each pack contained a reusable menstrual cup, bamboo toothbrush, eco toothpaste, a bar of soap, and reusable makeup remover pads with a laundry bag. The company Jade purchased the menstrual cups from also have a “buy one, give one” philosophy with their products. “It felt good to not only have helped five people by making those bundles,” Jade said, “but also that in buying those [menstrual cups], the seller also donated five [menstrual cups] to those who need them within the UK as well as pledged to plant five trees…”
