Holiday Help for Homeless Pets

Daisy Abston with the donations.

The truth strength of one’s character is often reflected in how they treat animals. We have many staff and supporters at Random Acts that have a soft spot for our furry friends. For her #RAHolidayKindness act, our own Acts Proposal Officer Shawna Abston decided to turn her attention to some deserving pets.

For a kind Holiday Act, she used Random Acts funds to bring supplies to the Animal Welfare League of Alexandria, Virginia. She learned of the shelter when her friend adopted her cats from their location. When she looked up their website, she saw that they had a wishlist and decided to purchase various items from Amazon.

Help for Anxious Animals

They were thrilled to see her walk through the door with armfuls of supplies for their pets awaiting homes. They were particularly appreciative of the “Thunder Shirts” for their many anxious dogs. These wraps apply gentle continuous pressure to dogs to relieve stress and anxiety.

She was happy to donate the items for such a good cause, but she also felt a little sad because there are so many stray animals that need assistance.

If you would like to help make a bigger dent in the homeless pets problem, please join Random Acts and consider donating to the Animal Welfare League of Alexandria or to a local shelter near you.
