The holidays are well and truly here, and what better way to celebrate than with an extra dose of kindness?
This December, Random Acts tasked its staff with one mission: to go out and spread kindness during the festive period. Thanks to the funding supplied by our incredibly generous supporters over the past year, Random Acts staffers are now busy carrying out acts of kindness all over the world. Here’s a rundown of the projects they’ve been working on:
United States
- Arranging a New Year’s Eve dinner for families at a children’s hospital in Bethesda, MD
- Funding a local man’s mission to carry out acts of holiday kindness in Altoona, PA
- Sponsoring an elderly hospice pug in El Cerrito, CA
- Joining a donation drive for families fleeing domestic violence in Columbus, OH
- Providing winter coats and holiday gifts for homeless families in San Francisco, CA
- Giving gifts to children in care and families in need in San Diego, CA
- Adopting a family for the holidays in Acworth, GA
- Providing necessities, presents and gift certificates for a family in Mundelein, IL
- Fulfilling the wishlist of a children’s hospital in Johnson City, TN
- Adopting two families for the festive season in Tacoma, WA
- Buying wishlist gifts for children in hospital in Fort Worth, TX
- Adopting a family rebuilding their lives after domestic violence in Waltham, MA
- Helping two local families celebrate Chanukah in Bakersfield, CA
- Sponsoring two families in River Falls, WI
- Supporting a toy drive in Salem, OR
- Purchasing supplies for a humane society and a family in need in Portland, OR
- Providing Christmas decorations for a homeless shelter in Bethesda, MD
- Hosting kindness workshops in New York City, NY and Los Angeles, CA
- Buying wishlist items for refugees and children in care in Austin, TX
- Purchasing an incubator for an animal shelter in Oakland, CA
- Providing wishlist items for a community shelter in White River Junction, VT

- Sending Christmas book parcels for 35 children in care across the UK
- Supporting two single-parent families in Northern Ireland, UK
- Buying ‘giving tree’ gifts for children in Croyden, UK
- Collecting supplies to help end period poverty in the UK
- Giving a festive treat to hospital staff in Amsterdam, Netherlands
- Treating a family to outings and and gift cards in Amsterdam, Netherlands
- Buying holiday gifts for youngsters in residential care in Canberra, Australia
- Purchasing supplies for Hogares Providencia children’s homes in Mexico City, Mexico
- Providing a PlayStation and games for a children’s hospice in Düsseldorf, Germany
- Replacing hiking gear for national park guides in Sarawak, Malaysia
